Protect sensitive data with FIPS 140-2 certified cryptography

Jill Bradshaw

As part of our continued commitment to improving Federal Data security, we are pleased to announce our latest updates to Forcepoint DLP enable FIPS 140-2 compliance.

Forcepoint’s DLP now includes FIPS 140-2 certified cryptography compliance

From intelligence and defense to civilian agencies, government requires rapid, accurate, and secure ways to support data-driven missions. Yet many agencies continue to experience persistent data security challenges. We at Forcepoint are proud to bring more than 20 years of expertise supporting the unique, complex missions and objectives undertaken by those who protect national security, with solutions that enable agencies to safeguard against data breaches.

Our industry-leading Data Loss Protection for Web and Email Security enables agencies to have a single policy to protect data, wherever it resides.  And now as part of our continued commitment to improving Federal Data security, we are pleased to announce our latest updates to Forcepoint DLP enable FIPS 140-2 compliance. FIPS (Federal Information Processing Standard) 140-2 is a U.S. government security standard for hardware and software cryptography modules. Modules validated against the standard assure government and other users that the cryptography in the system meets the standard.

Our goal is to help the U.S. federal government improve overall visibility and control everywhere people work and everywhere data resides. The solution enables security teams to follow data across networks and devices to create and enforce policies that provision the access and movement of data to prevent data breaches and helps ensure compliance.

Forcepoint Data Loss Prevention enables agency security teams to:

● Discover and Control All of Your Data – Empower employees to work across devices, connect to multiple networks, and work within cloud apps with Forcepoint Data Loss Prevention (DLP).

● Identify Your Riskiest Users in Seconds – Reduce false positives and isolate problems faster using Incident Workflow.

● Securely Share Data with Third Parties – Control and encrypt your data when it moves outside your agency.

Note:  This update applies to the Forcepoint DLP system after a manual FIPS cryptography procedure has been performed. See this Knowledge Base article for information about the FIPS cryptography procedure for Forcepoint DLP v8.5.1 and this Knowledge Base article for information about the FIPS cryptography procedure for Forcepoint DLP v8.5.2.

FIPS 140-2 certified cryptography is supported only with new installations of v8.5.1. Forcepoint DLP does not support FIPS certified cryptography on upgrades to v8.5.1.
