John McCormack currently serves on the Ping Identity Board of Directors (NYSE:PING) and has been in that role since August 2016 and recently helped conduct the successful IPO of Ping Identity in September 2019, marking Vista Equity Partners first IPO exit. McCormack also serves as an Operating Partner to Teleo Capital where he advises on acquisitions and value creation strategy and serves as Chairman of the portfolio company TeeSnap. McCormack also serves as Chairman of the Board of NeuShield, an innovative Ransomware solution.
McCormack was previously an Operating Executive with Marlin Equity Partners from 2016 to 2019, focused on conducting operational due diligence and providing operational support to portfolio companies across the software and technology sectors. McCormack co-led the Marlin investment and acquisition of AppRiver and then successfully exited the investment 18 months later to Zix Corp (NASDQ: ZIX) as the interim CEO, Chairman, and operating executive returning above industry average MOIC and IRR.
McCormack has over 25 years of experience as an executive in the cyber-security and internet infrastructure industries. He served as CEO of Forcepoint (formerly Raytheon / Websense), where he led the transition of the company from a $180M web filtering business to a global cyber-security brand with revenues of over $600M. Prior to his promotion to CEO, McCormack served as President and SVP of Product Development for Websense. As CEO he guided the company through a $1B public-to-private sale to Vista Equity Partners in June 2013 and later architected the March 2015 sale of Websense to Raytheon for $1.9B.
McCormack has served as an executive for Cisco Systems, leading cyber-security and internet infrastructure solutions. Subsequent to Cisco, McCormack was an executive for Symantec’s endpoint enterprise security after Symantec acquired Sygate Technologies for $185m where McCormack was executive of products and strategy.
McCormack earned a B.S. degree in Computer Science from the University of New Hampshire and an M.S. degree in Information Management from George Washington University.
