Gartner: 'How to Choose Between Enterprise DLP and Integrated DLP Approaches’
For most businesses, data volumes are growing rapidly, and the possibility of a breach is daunting. Security teams are faced with the responsibility of developing a comprehensive and sustainable strategy for data loss prevention that protects against external threats and insider risk. But, with a rapidly expanding DLP market, it can be difficult to understand which products and features align with your organization’s needs.
Gartner defines the data loss prevention market using two segments: enterprise DLP products and integrated DLP products. Per the report,, “enterprise DLP products offer centralized policy management and reporting functionality to define, disseminate and monitor DLP policies across one or more use cases” and “integrated DLP products are natively integrated in appliances or services.” According to the Gartner, the selection criteria for any DLP product should return to the central question: “does this product add value to my data security governance strategy and provide worthwhile insights into and control over how my users handle sensitive data?”
We are confident, this report will help security professionals better answer that question by:
- Detailing the key challenges most organizations face when building out a DLP strategy-and offering actionable recommendations
- Outlining critical questions organizations should ask themselves when building out a successful data security strategy
- Providing guidance on how to use and enhance the DLP capabilities of security products already in place
- Comparing use cases for integrated DLP features and enterprise DLP solutions
