Forcepoint DSPM keeps getting faster, more flexible and broader in what it covers, and version 4.2 continues that trajectory. This release delivers a meaningful jump in scanning performance, expands regulatory compliance coverage into new markets and gives teams more precise control over what gets scanned across SharePoint, OneDrive and Google Drive.

DSPM 4.2 also extends connector coverage to three new platforms, widening the view into where sensitive data lives across the enterprise.

Performance Gets Another Boost in DSPM 4.2

DSPM 4.2 continues Forcepoint's ongoing investment in scanning performance, delivering 30% to 60% faster scans compared to DSPM 4.1. New API throttling protection also keeps the OneDrive, SharePoint Online and Google Drive connectors within each provider's rate limits automatically, so large scans use API quota more efficiently without manual tuning.

Regulatory Compliance Coverage Keeps Expanding

Forcepoint Data Classification already streamlines compliance in more than 80 regions worldwide, and DSPM 4.2 builds on that foundation with six new DLP classifier policy groups, 56 classifiers in total, covering data protection requirements in Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and Egypt: Indonesia PDP, Saudi Arabia PDPL and PII, and Egypt PDPL, PII and Finance.

These import automatically as available classifiers with no custom pattern-building required, giving compliance teams operating in or expanding into these markets a ready answer for data residency conversations.

More Precise Scanning Across SharePoint, OneDrive and Google Drive

DSPM 4.2 gives teams more precise control over what each scan covers. A single scan job can now target multiple specific folders or paths across SharePoint, OneDrive and Google Drive in one pass, so teams can scope scans to exactly the data that matters.

Connector Coverage Extends to Salesforce, Dell ECS and NetApp ONTAP

DSPM 4.2 adds three new connectors, all generally available at launch: Salesforce, Dell ECS and NetApp ONTAP, broadening visibility into systems across the enterprise.

At launch, Salesforce coverage includes discovery and classification, with Data Detection and Response, remediation and record tagging planned for a future release. Dell ECS and NetApp ONTAP currently surface changes on the next scheduled scan, with real-time Data Detection and Response planned as a follow-on enhancement.

Additional Improvements in DSPM 4.2

  • Expanding tag aliases. Tag aliases have been extended throughout DSPM telemetry and now appear across search, sort, exports, analytics and file tagging, rather than only in classification results. Any existing empty aliases are automatically backfilled to the current tag name.
  • Clearer file-level status. File-level classification status now distinguishes between errored, skipped and in-progress files, rather than grouping all three into one state. This applies to scans that start after the update goes live.
  • More flexible data classification. The Forcepoint Data Classification endpoint now supports multiple configurations.

Availability and Cost

Everything in DSPM 4.2, including the new classifiers, multi-folder scanning, the new connectors, tag alias support and the performance improvements, is included for existing DSPM customers at no additional cost.
