Ret. General Michael Hayden, former White House CIO Theresa Payton and cyberwar expert Peter Singer to offer people-first perspectives amid a shifting cyber landscape.

AUSTIN, Texas – March 15, 2017 – Global cybersecurity leader Forcepoint today announced that Chief Executive Officer Matthew P. Moynahan will be joined by retired four-star general Michael Hayden, former White House chief information officer Theresa Payton and author Peter Singer in delivering keynote addresses at the premier Forcepoint Cybersecurity Leadership Forum. The Forcepoint forum, “Future View: The Human Point,” will take place Tuesday, April 11, 2017 from 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. EST at the Hyatt Regency in Reston, VA.

The event brings together security professionals across federal, state and local governments, as well as leaders from the defense and intelligence communities, for discussions on human-centric cybersecurity strategies. By understanding how, where and why people interact with confidential data and IP, government agencies and IT organizations will be able to more effectively prioritize cybersecurity initiatives.

“It has become clear that understanding the behaviors and motivations of people is absolutely critical to building long-term cybersecurity programs in the context of the threats facing government today,” said Moynahan. “Through this event, we hope to provide a forum to engage in dialogue that provides insight that helps cybersecurity professionals to better address risk within their organizations.”

General Hayden is a retired four-star general who served as director of the Central Intelligence Agency and the National Security Agency. As head of the country’s premier intelligence agencies, he was on the frontline of global change, the war on terrorism and the growing cyber challenge.

“The borders and boundary lines of cyberwarfare and cybersecurity are constantly being redrawn – both by people and automated hacking machines,” explained Hayden. “Our government, intelligence and defense leaders must face these new threats and threat actors and they need new strategies and insights to win. The Forcepoint Cybersecurity Leadership Forum is positing a new paradigm for understanding motivations that could make a big impact on how government and business rethink cybersecurity in the next decade.”

Ms. Payton is one of America's most respected authorities on Internet security, net crime, fraud mitigation, and technology implementation. As White House CIO from 2006 to 2008 she administered the IT enterprise for the President and 3,000 staff members.

“Millions of people interact today with data and content, from email, social media, mobile apps like Pokemon GO to the IoT and cloud,” said Payton. “The industry’s approach to cybersecurity must move beyond technology to get to the heart of human behavior as people interact with IP and other organizational data. These are the issues I’m excited to discuss with the growing community of cybersecurity experts and government leaders who are passionate about the future of security.”

Dr. Singer is strategist at New America Foundation and contributing editor at Popular Science magazine. He has been named by the Smithsonian as one of the nation's 100 leading innovators, by Defense News as one of the 100 most influential people in defense issues, and by Onalytica social media data analysis as one of the ten most influential voices in the world on cybersecurity and 25th most influential in the field of robotics.

“Robots, artificial intelligence, cyberwar, 3D printing, and a new geopolitical competition; the 21st century is being shaped by a range of exciting, and scary, new trends and technologies that we need to better understand if we want to succeed,” said Singer.
