Gartner®: 4 Ways Generative AI Will Impact CISOs and Their Teams

Generative AI is changing the landscape of entire industries as businesses embrace it wholeheartedly.

Now, CISOs face the ramifications of this shift: keeping the organization safe from an ever-evolving attack surface.

Gartner expects that through 2025, attacks leveraging generative AI will force security-conscious organizations to lower thresholds for detecting suspicious activity, generating more false alerts, and thus requiring more — not less — human response. Gartner further says, 89 percent of business technologists would reportedly bypass cybersecurity guidance to meet a business objective, meaning organizations should expect shadow generative AI especially from business teams whose main task is to generate content or code.

Gartner® 4 Ways Generative AI Will Impact CISOs and Their Teams, “…gives actionable recommendations for each of these four impact areas, enabling CISOs and their teams to quickly adapt to this fast pace of change.” These four areas are:

  • “Defend with” generative cybersecurity AI.
  • “Attacked by” GenAI.
  • “Build” GenAI applications in consideration of enterprise security initiatives.
  • “Consume” GenAI safely across the organization.
